We have a busy few weeks ahead of us leading up to the first all girls tour from Trinidad and Tobago. They will be staying at Ripley Court during the last week in September. I would like to draw your attention to a couple of forthcoming fund raising events, particularly the Daytona (Sandown) Go-Karting evening on 14th September - price now only £75 pp including all racing, food and drink. Another one not to miss will be the All Star Rugby Match to be held at Esher RFC. Thank you all for your support for touraid and I hope to see you at some of the events over the coming months. Andy Berry Tobago U11 Girl's Netball Tour NEXT TOUR ARRIVING 24th-30th September 2009 - Tobago U11 Girl's Netball Tour Following the success of last years Rainbow Tour, Ripley Court School are looking forward to hosting the Tobago Netball Tour. The Tournament will be held on Tuesday 29th September with coaching and lessons taking place throughout the week. The girls will also be visiting the London Eye and enjoying days out with their host families during their stay. Support Oxford University's Cycle Ride for touraid Oxford University Rugby Club has pledged their support to touraid and will be embarking on some fun fundraising activites over the summer to help raise money. The club are taking a tour to Edinburgh in October 2009 in preparation of the new season and will be participating in a host of events to raise funds for the this. In a hugely generous gesture, touraid will receive 50% of all the funds raised from these events. The first event takes place on Sunday 13th September and is a sponsored bike ride. Team members and coaches will cycle 50 miles through some of the most picturesque villages in England. Double Header Golf Challenge The recent Golf Day at Burhill Golf Club was a great success and raised over £1,300 for touraid. Congratualtions to Mike Catt, Mick Riley, Richard Crook and Rob Berry (Big Rob) for winning the London Double Header Golf Challenge. A special thank you to Guy Salmon Land Rover (Thames Ditton) for their generous sponsorship and to Gill Fee and the wonderful staff at the fabulous Burhill Golf Club for making the day so enjoyable for all. Future Events CHARITY RUGBY MATCH OCTOBER 14TH 2009 AT ESHER RUGBY CLUB Over this summer,as you may know, some gap year students have visited Cambodia to support the work of the Rugby Federation and the NGO schools near the rubbish dumps. So keen were Steph, Gail, Alex, Rory and Helen to make a difference they are fundraising to get the children off the dumps and into schools. touraid, therefore, are linking with For a Child's Smile, a registered childrens Charity operating in Cambodia, to stage an All Stars rugby match at Esher RFC on Wednesday 14th October (7.15pm KO) A curtain raiser will be played by the hosts of the Cambodian touring side from 2007 (Orleans Park) and the touraid XV will be captained by Mike Schmid (Ex Canada capt) and will feature Mike Catt, among others to take on a Khmer XV being Captained by ex Brithish and Irish Lion fullback Tim Stimpson.
