Cipriani donates boots to Trinidad club
touraid's newest ambassador Danny Cipriani, has made a fantastic donation to his native Trinidad. Cipriani who plays for London Wasps, one of touraid's Guinness Premiership supporting clubs has donated 15 pairs of boots to the Rainbow Club in Trinidad as a gesture to make up for missing a training session with them during his injury lay off.
Cipriani, who spent five months out with the injury, said: "Rugby has had such a positive effect on my life and given me amazing opportunities. Rudolph Jack is doing an incredible job with the Rainbow Team in Trinidad and I hope he can continue with his great work."
Cipriani however took time out with the youngsters from the Rainbow Club, when they visited the UK in October to play in the Tullow Oil touraid Cup. Danny explained his involvement with touraid, "...my family is from Trinidad, and I'm keen to support the kids from there and other places around the world to play rugby. touraid does great in helping kids from poor backgrounds and I'm delighted to be an ambassador for them."

Future Events
touraid's key objective is to create lasting legacies between tourists and hosts; be it sporting, cultural, social or economic. To do this, it is critical that touraid continues it support, advice and facilitating role with all stakeholders, to that end its fundraising events are key to touraid realising its objectives. Be sure to get the following dates in your diary now, for what will be two memorable events.
The touraid Dinner dance at Epsom Racecourse on the 7th March will be an evening to let your hair down, move like a BBC news correspondent and raise money for touraid. What's more with packages starting at a credit crunch busting £65 per head the night looks set to be one of spring's not to miss social events.
After the success of last year's touraid Golf Day, we are delighted to announce the 2009 event at Burhill Golf Club on 29th April. Last season we were delighted to be joined by England's Mike Catt and Danny Cipriani, as well as many other stars from the sports and broadcasting world.
Playing in teams of four with a 'star' (we can't vouch for their golf!) you will have the opportunity entertain clients and friends alike on one of Surrey's finest courses, and then retire to the clubhouse for a well earned beer and meal.
For further information on these events please do get in touch with the touraid office on 01932 863388 or by email on info@touraid.org

Stop press
touraid are delighted that two of its envoys were awarded their first caps in the Autumn Internationals. London Irish's Delon Armitage and Harlequins' Ugo Monye were ever present, and in the eyes of many enhanced their reputations in difficult circumstances. What price a touraid Lion this season?
Our friends in Kolkata, the Jungle Crows who do so much to develop rugby and work with some of the city's most vulnerable youngsters began their winter camps on 22nd December. The camp has become one of the major events in the Crow's year and is a great chance to introduce new youngsters to rugby and hone the skills of existing players. As the schools close over the coming week more and more youngsters will join the camp. Paul Walsh expects more than 100 players to take part this year - day 1 saw 40 on the Maidan. Sadly the political authorities in Kolkata still see the Maidan as their personal property and at the weekend held a rally for some 200,000 people, which left a mountain of debris and rubbish which proves to be a real obstacle for the players.
All at touraid are always aiming to improve the touraid experience and are very keen to get feedback from any tourists, hosts and other stakeholders involved with the 34 tours in the past 2 years or so. Some of the feedback so far...
"This tournament has really opened my eyes to what rugby is means to me. I had not appreciated...that rugby can provide a real chance for so many children all over the world..."
Ryan Clark, 1st XV Captain, Brandeston Hall
"The entire trip was a success...The boys have continued to communicate with the host families, who are keen to help and see them grow and live their potential."
Jerome Sam de Mwaya, Senior Social Working, Mkombozi, Tanzania
"The whole adventure will remain long in the memory for me and certainly has been one of the most satisfying six days that I have had as a school master."
Tom Bunbury, Headmaster Papplewick Preparatory School
